2007 Winner of the Morley Gunderson Prize in Industrial Relations

Robert Hebdon

Robert HebdonProfessor Bob Hebdon joined McGill's Faculty of Management in 2000. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an M.A. in Economics in 1968, he worked for the Ontario Public Service Employees Union for 24 years. He completed his Ph.D. in industrial relations at the Center for Industrial Relations at the University of Toronto in 1992. His academic career began at Cornell University where he taught collective bargaining for seven years at the School of Industrial Relations. In 1999 he taught at the University of Manitoba in the Faculty of Management. Professor Hebdon also has experience as a neutral in labour-management relations acting as an arbitrator in Ontario.

His research interests include, public sector labor relations and restructuring, collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and industrial conflict. He has published in a wide variety of major journals including: the American Economic Review, the Industrial and Labor Relations Review, The Berkeley Journal of Industrial Relations, Relations Industrielles, the Journal of Collective Negotiations in the Public Sector, the Labor Studies Journal, and the Arbitration Yearbook.
