List of Important Dates for 2016-2017

2016

September 5 Labour Day Holiday (University closed)
9 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for summer session courses and extended courses.
12 Classes (F,Y) begin this week unless an exception is noted on the timetable.
14 Summer session grades available for viewing by students on the Student Web Service (ACORN).
15 Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2016-17.
16 Registration deadline for students registering in fall session; after this date a late registration fee will be assessed.
26 Final date to add full-year (Y) and fall session (F) courses.
30 Remaining fall session (September to December) fees due by this date to avoid incurring service charges.
30 Final date to submit final doctoral thesis for Fall Convocation.
October 10 Thanksgiving Day (University Closed)
31 Final date to drop a fall course without academic penalty
November TBA Fall convocation period. See Office of Convocation for more information
30 Students registered in Fall-Winter: Remaining winter session (January to April) fees due by this date to avoid incurring service charges, which begin accruing on December 15.
December 1 Students who expect to complete their program in December should advise Carol Canzano-Hamala in writing. Convocation Notice Form available on the CIRHR web site.
2 Classes end. Consult your individual instructors to confirm.
6-16 MIRHR Examination period. Consult your individual instructors for details on final exams (if applicable).
21 University closed for winter holiday break.

2017

January 2 University re-opens following holiday break.
9 Winter session (S) classes commence.
13 Grade submission deadline for fall session (F) IRE courses.
13 Registration deadline for students registering in winter session; after this date a late registration fee will be assessed.
13 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for fall session courses.
16 Final date to submit doctoral theses without fee payment for winter session.
18 Fall session grades available for viewing on ACORN.
20 Final date for receipt of recommendations for degrees to conferred in March (in absentia).
22 Wait lists for (S) courses expire.
23 Final date to add (S) courses, if permitted by instructor (or other department when not an IRE course). 1
February 20 Family Day (University closed)
21-24 Study break for undergraduate and most graduate departments. For example, classes at the Rotman School of Management and at the Centre will be cancelled. OISE courses will continue to meet (see March).
27 Deadline to drop a winter or full-year course (S, Y) without academic penalty1,2

April 14 Good Friday (University Closed)
10-13 MIRHR Examination period. Consult individual instructors since not all courses have a final exam.
21 For students obtaining degrees at June convocation, course work must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and winter session courses.
May 8 First day of Summer 2017 classes
8 Final date to enrol in May-June or May-August session courses

22 Victoria Day (University Closed)
26 Final date to drop May-June F section courses without penalty
June 19 Final date to drop May-August Y section courses without academic penalty
July 7 Final date to enrol in July-August courses
14 Coursework must be completed and grades submitted for May-June section F courses
17 Final date to drop July-August S section courses without academic penalty.
19 Grades for May-June F section courses available for viewing by students on Student Web Services (ACORN/ROSI).

  1. When dropping or adding courses, please be sure to allow sufficient time for collecting approval signatures on forms, when forms are required.
