The purpose of the Mentorship Program is to provide MIRHR students with an opportunity to connect with the professional community, develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace and to gain invaluable career guidance.

Gain exposure to current professional practices and trends.
Increase understanding of the industry/organizations.
Develop practical skills and confidence to enter profession.
The Commitment
To participate, students will have successfully completed the Career Development Workshop Series during the fall semester. Students who have completed comparable training elsewhere can request this requirement be waived.
Students commit to meeting their Mentors at least twice during the winter semester, as described below. The duration of the program is January to April. Additional contact is encouraged only if both parties agree upon a more frequent schedule.
First contact by January 31st (approx date)
Mentor and Mentee determine method and frequency of contact. Suggested topics include: resume feedback, discussion of career goals and strategies. What are the desired outcomes for both the Mentee and Mentor?
Second contact by February 28th (approx date)
Further discussion of career goals, industry standards, skills to succeed in the organization as well as suggestions for professional growth. Assess whether desired outcomes are being met.
