The Anne Marie Hill Scholarship, which is made possible by the support of the Ontario Woodsworth Memorial Foundation and the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation, has been Awarded to Alexandria Ioannou, a student in our Human Resource Management Certificate Program. Alexandria is “thankful to receive [this scholarship] as I complete my studies in HRM. I’m passionate about people-centered work and hope to build a career in HR that’s focused on fostering positive workplace culture in a thoughtful and balanced way."

The Baron de Douglas Crone and Ada Crone Scholarship, which is made possible by the generosity of Lt. Col. Wayne Douglas and Mrs. Karen Douglas, has been awarded to IRHR undergraduate students, Julia Elizabeth Baskin and Yi Chun (Amy) Huang.

“I am deeply grateful for the generosity of Lt. Col. Wayne Douglas and Mrs. Karen Douglas, as well as for the support of the CIRHR academic community, which has played an important role in my academic development,” says Yi Chun. “Their encouragement has allowed me to continue approaching my studies with curiosity and rigor. I strive to research deeper into examining how organizational systems, labour relations, and institutional structures shape both individual and collective experiences.”

The Woodsworth College Students’ Association (WCSA) – Peter Silcox Scholarship, which is made possible through the generous support of the WCSA and is named in honour of the second Principal of Woodsworth College, has been awarded to IRHR undergraduate students, Jingruo (Amy) Sun and Miqa Francesca Castilla.

“I feel I must owe any success, and my reception of the Peter Silcox and Joseph Desloges Legacy Awards, to the [WCSA and CIRHR] community that has provided me with an invaluable education over the past four years,” says Miqa. “The CIRHR has cultivated something that cannot be taught by work ethic, talent or privilege alone: it has cultivated my passion. Beyond a place to study, the Centre has long served as an environment where curiosity is encouraged, initiative is inspired, and academic achievement is recognized.

“As I near graduation and begin planning for what comes next, I find myself reflecting on where I came from. Among the first in my family to step foot in a university, let alone obtain a post-secondary degree, The IRHR program was always my first choice… I look forward to continuing my education at the University of Toronto, carrying forward the lessons and mentorship that I have received along the way. The impact of these awards extends beyond me; they affirm that there is space within academia for students whose paths were not predetermined by background or pedigree. They are a signal to students from towns like mine — to families like mine — that expectation does not define outcome.”

On behalf of everyone at the CIRHR and Woodsworth College, we extend our congratulations to these five students on each of their scholarships — a much-deserved recognition of their academic achievements!
