2017 Co-Winner of the Morley Gunderson Prize in Industrial Relations

Clara Addo-Bekoe

 

Clara received her MIRHR from the Centre for Industrial Resources and Human Resources in 2008. Clara works for TVOntario (TVO) and is Organizational Development and Learning Advisor where, among other accomplishments, she Implemented an award winning “Digital Media Training Program” over 2 years to empower content creators to deliver on TVO’s “digital first” strategy. This program won the Canadian Society of Training and Development (CSTD) WOW Award. Clara is also skilled in Facilitation and Negotiation and acts as third party moderator to review and discuss end-to-end processes and streamline team workflows.

Clara’s accomplishments outside of TVO include lecturing in Organizational Design and Theory, Human Resources Management and Business Leadership Skills at the University of Toronto. In 2017 she began teaching CIRHR undergraduate students in the Employment Relations program. This marked her return a decade after graduating from the same program and place that she herself had been a student in.

Clara’s teaching philosophy can be summarized as follows: to continue to challenge and empower university students to learn and draw conclusions from their own experiences, consequently leading them into significant insights rather than telling them what they need to know.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of Ghana and Certificate in Human Resources Management (Honours) from University of Toronto.
