The MIRHR and PhD programs provide students with the opportunity for advanced study in human resources management, labour relations, collective bargaining and dispute resolution, organization development and labour market policy.
The Master of Industrial Relations degree (now the Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (MIRHR) degree) was the first such degree in an English-language university in Canada. From the initial graduating class of 2 students in 1977, there are now about 45 students who graduate each year.
The PhD program was another first for an English-language university in Canada. Established in 1986 it is a research-oriented degree that prepares its graduates for both academic and professional careers. Small and select, an average of only 2 students are admitted each year.
