April 22, 2021 by CIRHR Communications

Congratulations to Tanya Pitel, Undergraduate Coordinator, who has received one of the Dean's Outstanding Staff Awards

The Faculty of Arts & Science’s Dean’s Outstanding Administrative Service Award is given to an administrative staff member whose "outstanding contributions to administrative service have made a positive impact on teaching, research or general administration."

Professor Dionne Pohler, CIRHR Acting Director, says “The Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, Woodsworth College, and the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies jointly nominated Tanya for this award to recognize her incredible dedication, competence and service to our respective units, programs and students over many years.”

“[The Faculty of Arts & Science] is such a large organization, and we all want to feel appreciated for the contribution we make,” says Tanya. “I am both humbled and gratified to learn that my supervisors and colleagues think so highly of my abilities and accomplishments.”

“I would especially like to thank those at Woodsworth College, the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies, and the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources who took the time and effort to nominate me for this award; and to thank the University of Toronto overall, and these three units in particular, for providing me with such a great work environment for so many years!”

After years of balancing undergraduate programs from CIRHR, Woodsworth College, and the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies, Tanya began working at the CIRHR full time this February.

“In my new full-time relationship with both the graduate and undergraduate programs at the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, I will continue to bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to my work!”

Professor Pohler notes that “Tanya has been an integral part of the success and growth of our undergraduate programs, and we are thrilled that she will now also be working with our graduate programs in her new full-time role at the CIRHR.”

The award will be presented at a virtual celebration on May 5th (4-5pm). Registration for the event is open until May 3rd.
